If you aspire to get into acting or modeling, there is plenty of opportunity for you. Recently with the upsurge of reality television shows, many aspiring actors and models are auditioning for roles in reality television as a springboard into bigger jobs in acting and modeling. Production companies, casting agents, and casting directors, work with talent agents and online talent sites to pick actors and models for pilots, television shows, films and commercials. Acting and modeling agencies have insider information about lucrative endorsement contracts, A-list film roles and high-paying jobs. Actors and models invest a lot of time building contacts and relationships within the acting and modeling industry to secure regular work.

Do keep in mind that not just anybody can become a successful model. If becoming an actor or model were easy, we would all be on runways and doing photo shoots. There are many different factors that shape a successful model. Here are a few steps to help you see what it takes to become successful in modeling and acting.

The term "Good" model or actor simply refers to a model or actor that is easy to work with and is somewhat successful at modeling or acting. Whenever you are making contacts or working in modeling and acting, you are building a reputation. You'll get more work and increase your chances for success if you are known as a "good" actor or model.

While being "drop dead gorgeous" is not a requirement in modeling and acting, being healthy and clean is essential.  Be sure that you are attractive and physically appealing.  Clean and clear skin, a nice smile and good teeth, and clean and healthy hair will go a long way in modeling and acting.

Keeping your body fit by maintaining a steady and healthy weight is also important in acting and modeling.  Casting directors will expect to see the same face and body they see in your photos.  Staying a steady and healthy weight does not mean that you need to work out every day.

You'll need to be very photogenic as well.  If you have been told by others that you are photogenic, this is a good indicator that you are.  When working in modeling and acting you'll be in front of a camera most of the time and being photogenic will determine whether you will come across appealing on film.

Lastly, being professional is critical.  Whether you are dealing with talent agencies, casting directors, photographers, or other industry professionals, carrying yourself in a professional manner is key.  If you work hard to maintain a professional demeanor, you will develop a reputation of being a real professional.

Other factors to keep in mind if you are pursuing a career in acting and modeling are being charasmatic, being personable, and having great people skills.
