Becoming a bikini model isn't quite the same as becoming a fashion model.  There are specific requirements that a fashion model must possess with respect to height, weight, and appearance.  Bikini models have similar requirements, but there is a little more flexibility in the world of bikini modeling.

Certainly being very physically attractive is still a requirement, as is a slim, well-toned body.  In general, a larger bust size (C cup plus) is an advantage for a bikini model.  Possessing "sex appeal" is also somewhat required of a bikini model. In pursuing a career as a bikini model, there are several tips that can accelerate success.  Networking plays a major role in getting exposure and getting your name and photos out there in bikini model industry.  Use sites like MySpace and Facebook to locate all the information you can about bikini modeling.  Working out and staying in shape is very important in becoming a bikini model.  You'll need to have a great body for most bikini model jobs. You will need to be in top shape for even a chance to get a job as a bikini model.  Competing in bikini model competitions, or swimsuit competitions is also a good method of getting exposure and getting bikini model jobs.  Visit local bars and clubs to find out if there are any bikini competitions in your area.  Magazines also hold swimsuit competitions for aspiring bikini models.  Competitions can be a great way to get noticed.  Developing a niche to set yourself apart is another good way to land jobs as a bikini model.  Are you a sports guru?  Or maybe you are a professional in some other industry such as an auto mechanic, or a construction worker?  These types of themes could play well in bikini photo shoots and most magazines love some kind of hook.  Find you own hook.  Approaching swimwear companies is another way to break into bikini modeling. These companies are always looking for fresh bikini models for ads and commercial shoots.  You might be able to submit your photos and resume.  If you know anyone in your personal network that works in swimwear or beach products, this could be a way to get some small jobs for your resume.
